ArtPad SF!

Pretty much the sweetest art event I've ever been to.  The entire Phoenix Hotel (Beautiful, with a vintage LA vibe in the middle of the Tenderloin) was rented out. Every single room in the two stories was emptied of furniture and turned into a temporary gallery to house the artwork represented by galleries in the real world.  I went on Saturday - one of the four days it was open, and got to see a performance art piece "CCA MFA Swimming Pool Social Structure" where a bunch of sychronized swimmers jammed to "Sexy Boy" by Air, "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake, and half a dozen other, equally sexy songs.

Of course I forgot my camera, but I did collect waaaaaaaaaaaay too many of those art show postcards, and I've selected a few of my favorites below:

Last MOPLA post, I swear

Here are some shots from SNAPSHOP's final exhibition!  SNAPSHOP is the main reason we went down to LA, and is the subject of our feature story in the June issue.  Here are some of our own, crappy behind-the-scenes shots (there will be some much better ones done by a professional photographer in the actual issue, we promise)

Set-Up:

Snapshop instructors praise final student works: (in order from top, our old and new friends Natalie Franco, David Healy, and Nicole Franco)

Presenting awards!  There's me ( on the rightmost)- editor, presenting copies of the MOPLA April issue of Snapixel of Magazine to the raffle winners (all student participants)

Thanks again to MOPLA!  Nicole Franco, Natalie Franco, Cat Jimenez, and everyone else we met there.  We had such a wonderful time and we're so excited to write up the SNAPSHOP article.  Tune into the June issue to see absolutely fantastic work from these talented high school kids.

In Focus: The Tree Exhibition

The Tree Exhibition, a photography based exhibition  exploring the tree as the symbol of life is being held at the Ghetty Gallery in LA. This inspiring exhibition is being shown through July 3rd . The above photograph was shot by Myoung Ho Lee. The photograph shows a single tree on a studio backdrop but within the contact of the natural world. Many more photographs are used to explore the tree as a symbol of life. Check out the exhibit http://www.getty.edu/art/exhibitions/focus_trees/
